Frequently Asked Questions

Straightforward answers to what customers ask us most before, during, and after their move.
What should I do first when planning a move?

Start by setting a moving date and getting a quote as early as possible. Once you have a confirmed date, begin sorting through your belongings — decide what to keep, donate, or dispose of before packing begins. The earlier you start, the smoother the day will go.

Do I need to be home during the move?

We recommend that you or a trusted representative be present for the full duration of the move. This allows you to direct the crew, answer questions about item placement, and sign off on the inventory before the truck departs.

How do I get an accurate moving quote?

The most accurate quotes come from a full inventory of your belongings, including the number of rooms, large furniture pieces, specialty items, and any access challenges like stairs or limited parking. Share as much detail as possible when you contact us so we can give you a realistic estimate.

Can I pack my own boxes before the movers arrive?

Absolutely. Many customers prefer to pack personal items, clothing, and everyday essentials themselves. Just make sure boxes are sealed, labeled by room, and stacked in an accessible area so the crew can load them efficiently.

How should I label my boxes?

Write the destination room clearly on at least two sides of every box. Add a brief note of the contents if the box contains fragile items. Marking boxes as FRAGILE on the top and sides helps the crew handle them with extra care during loading and unloading.

What is the difference between local and long-distance moving?

Local moves typically cover distances under 100 miles and are billed by the hour. Long-distance moves cross greater distances or state lines and are usually priced by total weight and mileage. Both services include a truck, trained movers, and standard equipment.

How do I prepare large furniture for moving day?

Empty all drawers and remove any detachable shelves or legs where possible. This reduces weight, prevents drawers from sliding open, and protects the furniture during transport. Our crew will handle wrapping and padding once they arrive.

Can you move items into a storage unit instead of a home?

Yes. We can transport your belongings directly to any storage facility you choose. If you need help finding a climate-controlled unit in the area, let your coordinator know and we can point you toward available options nearby.

What if my new place isn't ready on moving day?

If your new address isn’t accessible yet, we offer short-term holding options. Your items can be kept safely in our truck or transferred to a storage facility until you are ready for delivery. Contact us as soon as possible if your timeline changes.

Do you move items up and down stairs?

Yes. Our crews are trained and equipped to handle multi-floor moves, including narrow staircases, walkup apartments, and high-rise buildings. Let us know about stairs or elevator requirements when booking so we can plan the right crew size.

How do you protect floors and walls during a move?

We use floor runners, door frame protectors, and corner guards in high-traffic areas to prevent scuffs and scratches. All furniture is padded and wrapped before it is moved through doorways or down stairs.

Can I move plants or perishable food?

We are unable to transport live plants or perishable food items. Plants are sensitive to temperature changes and movement, and perishables create a health and sanitation risk during transport. We suggest making separate arrangements for these items.

What is released value protection and do I need more coverage?

Released value protection is the basic liability coverage included with every move at no extra cost. It covers a set amount per pound per item. If you have high-value belongings, you may want to ask about full-value protection or check whether your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance covers items in transit.

Do you offer packing services for an entire home?

Yes. Our full packing service covers every room in the home, including kitchen items, clothing, furniture wrapping, and fragile pieces. You can also request partial packing if you only need help with specific rooms or categories of items.

How long does a typical move take?

A one-bedroom apartment usually takes two to four hours with a two-person crew. A three-bedroom home can range from five to eight hours depending on the volume of items and distance between locations. Your coordinator can give you a more specific estimate based on your situation.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and cash. Payment is typically due at the end of the move once all items have been delivered and placed. Your coordinator will confirm accepted payment methods when you book.

Can you move a vehicle or motorcycle along with my household items?

Vehicles and motorcycles require specialized transport and are not loaded onto our moving trucks with household goods. We can refer you to trusted auto transport partners who handle vehicle relocation professionally and safely.

What should I keep with me on moving day rather than putting on the truck?

Set aside important documents such as passports, leases, and financial records, along with medications, phone chargers, a change of clothes, and any valuables you prefer to handle personally. Keep these in a bag you carry yourself so they are never out of reach during the move.
